HAPPY WATERS IS GETTING A FACE LIFT
Happy Waters is a organization of pond enthusiasts that meet once a month to exchange ideas, stories, and advice about all aspects of owning and caring for a pond. We meet monthly from February to November at the Lurvey's Garden Center in Des Plaines on the first Thursday of the month. Each month we have a different guest speaker who comes and talks to us about their area of expertise. In the past, we have had lectures about a variety of topics including pond construction, filtration, aquatic plants, controlling algae, invasive species, and even fish and fish diseases. You don't have to be a member to come to the lectures, they are free and open to the public. Membership has other benefits including discounts, activities, an annual pond walk of member ponds, and a great dinner party at the end of the season. Come on by and check it out even if you don't have a pond but have been considering one, we don't bite (unless you ask nicely) and we're very friendly.
This web site features forums for members to share ideas and look for help. There is a calendar of events, and a section to download information about ponds, plants, fish, and other pond related material. We will also have a photo gallery for members to post pictures of their ponds. Unfortunately you will now have to register to use the site. In the past we had some problems and the only way to ensure site security is to take more severe measures. The site is pretty much done, I will update things throughout the year, come back often and check it out.
On the left navigation menu you will see a link for "Informational Videos" This will take you to a site where you can watch videos that I have produced that will help with things like creating an account, creating a photo gallery for your pond pics, and posting to the forums. Right now some of the videos are still being developed, keep checking back, I promise to have them done soon.
